Adapted Study LLC ("Adapted Study," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website and application at adapted.study (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information.

Designed for U.S. users. Adapted Study is a Texas limited liability company. The Service is designed and intended for users in the United States. We do not represent that we comply with the GDPR, UK GDPR, or other non-U.S. privacy frameworks. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative, and your information may be processed in the United States.

1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

• Account information - email address, name, and birth year (for age verification).
• Google Sign-In - if you choose Google to sign in, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture from Google (see Section 3).
• Learning profile - assessment responses, learning preferences, and accommodation settings you choose. These are educational preferences, not medical diagnoses.
• Study content - materials you upload (such as PDFs and text), study guides, practice activity, tutor messages, and related usage data.
• Billing - payment and subscription data processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
• Technical data - IP address, device/browser type, timestamps, and similar logs needed for security and reliability. We may derive an approximate country from your IP (or from CDN country headers) to show a soft warning and U.S.-abroad certification checkbox at signup when the connection appears to be outside the United States.
• Communications - messages you send to support or through inquire forms (including Founder's Circle).

3. Google Sign-In and Limited Use

When you use Google Sign-In, we access Google user data solely to authenticate you and to create or maintain your Adapted Study account. The data we receive from Google is limited to your email address, name, and profile picture (if Google provides one). We store that information in our database as part of your account record.

Adapted Study's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data. We do not use Google user data for advertising. We do not share Google user data with third parties except as needed to operate authentication and account services, to provide the Service you request, or as required by law.

4. How we use information

• Provide, personalize, and improve the Service
• Generate study materials and practice grounded in your uploads
• Operate AI tutoring and oral practice features
• Process subscriptions and send transactional email
• Secure the Service, prevent abuse, and comply with law
• Respond to your requests
• Communicate with you about the Service

5. AI processing of study content

To deliver core features (study guides, quizzes, tutoring, oral feedback, and similar), we send relevant excerpts of your study materials and prompts to AI providers such as Open AI, Anthropic, SpaceXAI, and Eleven Labs. Content is processed to generate the outputs you request. We do not sell your study materials to other organizations. You should not upload content you lack rights to use.

AI outputs can be inaccurate. Verify critical information against your official source materials.

6. Sharing and service providers

We share personal information with vendors that help us run the Service, including:

• Hosting and database providers
• Object storage for uploaded files
• AI providers to generate study features
• Text-to-speech / speech providers
• Payment processors
• Email delivery
• Sign-in authentication
• Error monitoring tools when enabled

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for authentication, security, and basic site function. If we use optional analytics cookies, we will describe them here and, where required, provide a choice. Cookie opt-in functionality may be needed later if optional analytics cookies are used.

8. Retention and deletion

We retain account and study data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You can export or permanently delete your data from Profile → Account & Data while signed in, or contact [email protected]. Deleting your account removes personal information and unshared/unpacked study content from active systems, subject to limited residual copies in backups for a short period and any records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons. When billing is enabled, deletion also ends any active subscription according to our Terms (generally without refund for the current period unless required by law).

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. U.S. state privacy rights (including California)

Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights to request access to or deletion of personal information, and to appeal certain decisions. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell personal information. To exercise rights, email [email protected]. We will verify your request and respond as required by applicable U.S. law.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

12. Not a medical or HIPAA service

Adapted Study is an educational technology service. We are not a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA. Accommodation preferences you set are not treated as medical records, but are not shared and are protected within the platform as your personal information.

13. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date will change when we do. Material changes may also be communicated through the Service or by email.
